Sustrans

Getting UK commuters on their bikes

Since 1977 Sustrans has been working to reduce traffic and its adverse effects through encouraging people to dust off their bikes, take to public transport, or even walk instead of driving. Projects like the National Cycle Network, over 12,000 miles of people friendly paths, and 'Support Cycling to Work', are all part of its ongoing mission.

Making cycling the smart choice

Earlier in 2013, Sustrans briefed us to develop a new campaign to support the millions of people across the UK who are desperate to get on their bikes.

Over 40% of non-cycling commuters would cycle to work if they could, but despite high fuel costs and expensive, unreliable public transport, just 3% of commuters currently cycle to work.

Getting employers in the saddle

Bray Leino created the 'Support Cycling to Work' campaign with two key objectives 1) to get more people commuting to work by bike and 2) to encourage employers to create a workplace friendly environment for bikes.

The main campaign aims to promote a national cycle-to-work standard for all workplaces, to give everyone the choice of a smarter, healthier and cheaper commute.

High-visibility channel integration

We developed the campaign identity, look & feel and key messaging which was then applied across multiple channels including advertising, leaflets, web content – including an online petition, ePostcards and social media -  street media, ambient and publicity stunts for PR.
