Bray Leino named amongst Ad Association’s first diversity and inclusion champions

The Ad Association has named Bray Leino among the first cohort of All In Champions – companies committed to improving diversity and inclusion within UK advertising.
For the advertising industry, diversity and inclusion is an especially important and pressing issue – affecting not only the workplace but the influential work we produce.

In 2021 Bray Leino took part in the Ad Association’s All In census, UK advertising’s first and biggest industry-wide survey created in association with the IPA, ISBA and Kantar. The census gauged D&I within our industry and the results were developed into the All In Action plan – a series of actions to improve D&I across UK advertising. For companies who adopt the plan and can prove they are implementing initiatives against the recommended areas, the Ad Association is awarding All In Champion status. The first cohort of All In Champions pioneering the scheme have been announced and we are delighted to be named among them.

Our D&I programme is run by Open House – a dedicated team of people from across our Agency who are passionate about driving continuous progress within our workplace, our work and beyond - championed by our CEO and with board level representation. And our All In Champion status is awarded in recognition of Open House initiatives which support the action plan, including – but by no means limited to:

  • Partnering with the Strive initiative to offer minority ethnic students internships, in support of the All In action to create a more ethnically diverse team – specifically, reaching black and Asian talent. Open House team member Kandice Quain was recently recognised by the IPA for her work in this area, named among 30 D&I champions on the 2022 iList.
  • Ensuring our office space and website – as well as those of our Clients – are accessible, in support of the All In action to improve the experience & representation of disabled talent.
  • Promoting social mobility through remote work experience days for students from state schools, academies and colleges affected by area deprivation, disadvantage and lack of networks.

The action plan brings together the major players within UK advertising, from big name advertisers to Agencies, servicers and platforms, and will help ensure better representation and visibility in the work we produce. To ensure progression and accountability, the All In Action Plan will evolve, with three new actions added regularly, and champions must reapply for their status accordingly.

CEO Kate Cox says: “It is crucial that we address D&I to improve access to our industry and promote representation within the work we create. The All In Action Plan is about recognising the spectrum of work to be done and driving continuous change across the challenges highlighted in the national census. Our Open House team are passionate and smart and drive this agenda. And this recognition is testament to that.”
