Oasis Dental Care – Looking forward

Oasis Dental Care provides NHS and private dental care in over 200 practices in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. With over 1.5 million patients, the brand's chief aim is to offer more than dental treatment, but to provide preventive care for healthy teeth and gums in a welcoming, friendly environment where the patient always comes first. Having worked with Oasis on their last two conferences, they were keen for us to help them stage another that was 'bigger and better' than previous years. The challenge for our team was that the brand was undergoing a state of internal change and this meant that our brief changed several times in the lead-up to the conference.

Into The Future

Many of the 680 delegates invited to the 2013 Oasis Dental conference were attendees at the previous event in 2012. This, coupled with the fact that we were staging the conference at the same venue, meant that the theme and ambiance created for the 2013 conference needed to be something special and completely different.

The undercurrent of internal change for Oasis meant that we needed to work together on an inspiring theme that would reassure the delegates that a changing ownership was good for the future, and we needed to find a message that could unite the audience in a memorable 2-day event.

'Looking Forward' was chosen as the creative direction for these reasons, and we quickly built up the logistics of the programme including the entertainment and event experience that delivered big on inspiration and motivation.

Ready For Teamwork

With a packed programme on the first day, we coordinated the conference production, dressed the venue and organised the services. For the gala dinner, we sought the services of singing waiters to get the crowd involved and energised. And after a fun-filled night, we echoed the conference theme around the venue the next morning with the call of the Maori conch shell. Bemused delegates were then treated to an inspiring talk by a Maori group about their traditional Haka ceremony, which is used to show 'readiness' and 'teamwork.’

The dental industry could be called a conservative bunch, yet the motivational power of the Maoris led the whole delegation to learn the Haka themselves and to participate in the full meaning of this traditional ceremony celebrating the power of a group working in harmony.

The result?

Feedback from the delegates was very positive, and with these happy attendees and a happy Oasis Dental Care team, we’re already underway with planning for another big/better conference experience next year.

Here’s what Justin Ash, Chief Executive Officer of Oasis Dental Care said after the conference:

“I am really proud of the team. From the feedback we seem this year to have set the benchmark for conferences, certainly in dentistry! Thanks again for Bray’s tremendous and professional organisation and behind the scenes management.”
