Climbers hand over massive cheque

Climbers from Bray Leino Devon HQ have raised over £5,000 for North Devon Hospice this summer, through a series of events culminating in a gruelling attempt on three of the highest mountains in the UK.

The climbers are now safely returned from their adventure, still nursing sore legs and the odd nasty blister.

North Devon Hospice Chief Executive Stephen Roberts visited the Agency to collect the cheque, and thanked staff for their ongoing support. The team also held a series of fundraising events, raffles and cake sales to raise money for the charity this summer.

North Devon Hospice provides crucial services for those with life limiting illnesses and their families. Its running and maintenance costs of over £4m a year are met entirely through charitable donations.

Austen Donnellan, one of our intrepid climbers, said: “It’s been a hard few months’ training for us, so it was a proud moment to be able to hand the cheque over. North Devon Hospice is an important part of the local community, and it holds special meaning for many in Bray Leino, so we’ll continue to support its vital work.”
