An entire pallet of organic flour, three days in a windswept field and a client with vision is all it took to make ‘Murial’ – a giant earth carving on the hillside of an organic farm in Devon - a reality.
The enormous outline, nicknamed ‘Murial’ depicts the distinctive Moo logo of a stylised cow and is the same size as its inspiration, the ancient Cerne Abbas Giant in neighbouring Dorset.
Making Muriel
Milk Link’s agency Bray Leino created the image to celebrate the link between organic long-life milk brand Moo and the environment. The magnificent cow was carved into one of Dowrich Farm fields, which supplies milk used to make Moo. As the farm does not sit on a chalk base but on rich organic pasture, the 2450 square metre image has been whitened using organic flour. The outline will remain on display at the farm until the field is ploughed.
Farmer Anthony Lee commented: "I hope Murial will inspire people to give Moo organic long-life milk a go the next time they’re in the supermarket – if they do, they’re in for a pleasant surprise."
And what did the client think? Milk Link commented: It was a pleasure working with Bray Leino who managed the project superbly and remained enthusiastic about it despite spending three days and nights in the field having to contend with whatever the English weather threw at them!
